Is that a kite or a parasail? My 2 year old just discovered kites. I love how amazed he is by them.
Rebecca - This is called Kiteboarding, and some of these guys are the best of the best. They are standing on a small surfboard and have a harness attached to the kite. They travel at very high speeds through the surf and can jump up to 50' in the air. I often photograph our local competitions and have seen some of them airborne for up to 8 seconds. It's an amazing sport to watch.
Parasailing is when you are attached to a parasail while being pulled through the air by a boat. No experience required, you just hang on!
Thanks for stopping by to take a look.

Mike, I think that if I were there, I would just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery! Kite boarding looks a little hazardous for me!
Tony & Darcy - Yes indeed. You would be welcome to join Sheryl and I sitting at the waters edge relaxing and taking photographs.

I'm a big fan of kite flying. I've been doing it for at least 50 years. Nothing is more relaxing and FUN.
That's really neat. I tried para-sailing once and believe me its not for me. Cool photo.
Nice photo...I wish I could wake up to the beautiful oceans of Hawaii everyday! I love it!
Thanks for sharing!

Kiteboarding sounds like a lot of fun and I bet it requires a lot of skill as well! Beautiful photo.
Great photo - & the water looks SO appealing! We are supposed to get up to nearly 80 today - which for Olympia means we will be starting to say "Gee it's hot!"
I think the parasailer looks like he will soon be the tail of a kite! Thanks for sharing
Thanks to everyone who commented, I appreciate you all stopping by!

Now that's a gorgeous beach! What a terrific shot- and Kiteboarding looks like fun - but I'd be a chicken for sure...the only way I'd want to be 50 feet in the air, is on an airplane - and then hopefully at more than 50 ft.....
Debi
Debi - Coming from you, that's a great compliment. Thank you.

Great picture Mike! I have been going back to Maui just about every year since I left Honolulu in 1979. I miss the beach, the sun, and the waves. Thanks for the flash back...
That's funny Paul, I have gone back to Vancouver WA every year since I moved here to get my fix of the cold, rain and beauty of the Pacific Northwest!
Mike
Mike and Sheryl This would certainly be a spot where I could achieve serenity.
Jennifer - There is a grassy knoll just out of the frame where you can sit and relax for hours. One of my favorite places to unwind.
Mike
Now that's not just your average kite there, folks! LOL
I haven't seen a lot of kiteboarding here, but the last time I was up in Portland over in the Columbia Gorge about 45 miles east of Portland, they are all over the place.
Russel - I used to live not far from there. Those are some hard core world-class surfers!
