I'm still trying to carve out my niche...

Wood Carving

This wood carving is one of many similar carvings in the area we live, and shows the creativity of some of our local residents. This one has been carved from the trunk of a fallen tree. Many of these sculptures are meticulously hand-crafted using only a crude hammer and chisel.

Now that is certainly different.  Can you give us the story behind this?

Now that is very interesting. Wonder how long it took to carve this. While living in Arlingtob VA..there was some controversy with a carving of a mermaid in a yard in Arlington. Seems the neighbors thought the carving was showing to much....breast.  The newspapers, of course, wrote an article about it.  The owners had a tree in front of their house that they were going to have removed,  Mrsf the . owner new her husband loved mermaids, and had a sculture carve a mermaid out of the tree.  It is truly awesome.

Mike,

This is why I never take my mother in law to Maui anymore. I'll be there twice next year!

I stay up by your Kahana office...

Local art pieces are always fascinating.  Hawaii is one of my favorite places.  And I usually have to ship something back that I find and love.  My boys even mailed back coconuts for their rooms.

Maui is such a beautiful place. I was there several years ago and hope that I will make it back again some day.  Very cool carving.
